Sanja Plohl (2nd prize)
Sanja Plohl was born in 1982 in Slovenia. She started learning the piano at the age of 9 and guitar at the age of 11. After completing Music High School in Maribor she first studied at Academy for music in Ljubljana with T. Rajteric and later with T. Offermann at Hochschule fur Musik und Theater in Rostock where she graduated with distinction in 2006. Since September 2006 she has been pursuing her Master Degree in the class of Z. Dukic at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. In addition she studied with O. Ghiglia at Accademia Chigiana in Siena and has attended masterclasses of many prominent guitarists (A. Pierri, A. Desiderio, R. Dyens, C. Marchione, P. Steidl, H. Käppel, D. Bogdanovi?, D. Starobin, D. Tanenbaum, E. Isaac and others).
Sanja is a winner of more than 20 awards and scholarships. Besides winning the first prize at Slovenian national guitar competition she has won prizes at festivals and competitions: Guitar Art Belgrade, Guitar festival Gevelsberg, Guitar festivalZwolle (Nl), “I.Padovec” (Cro), Festival Rust (A), “S.Salmaso” (I), Volos Guitar Festival (Gr), “Kitarika” (Slo), Strings only festival (Cro), Glasbeni julij na obali (Slo), and scholarships of Soroptimist International, Slovenian Ministry for Culture, Accademia Chigiana and Zois fund.
She has given solo performances in Austria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia and Serbia and has made numerous recordings for radio and television. She also performed for Yehudi Menuhin ’s Organisation “Live Music Now”, in various chamber groups and as a soloist with Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock.
